Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Recht: Journal of Legal Studies undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope. Upon submission, each manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial team to assess its compliance with the journal’s scope, author guidelines, and basic academic standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these initial requirements may be rejected at this stage.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are then sent to at least two independent reviewers who have expertise in the relevant field. In the double-blind review process, the identities of both the author(s) and the reviewer(s) are kept confidential to ensure an objective and unbiased evaluation. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, methodological rigor, clarity of argument, contribution to legal scholarship, and relevance to contemporary legal issues. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted without revision

  • Accepted with minor revisions

  • Accepted with major revisions

  • Rejected

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ comments within the specified timeframe. The revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation if necessary. The final decision regarding the publication of a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief, taking into consideration the reviewers’ evaluations and the journal’s editorial standards.

All review processes are conducted in accordance with principles of confidentiality and objectivity.
